5 tips to refresh and style your Home after the holidays

Pinterest Pin

Is your house still full of Christmas decor? Ready to take the decorations down and freshen up your space? Here are 5 tips on how to refresh and style your home after the holidays.

Breakfast nook

I tend to pack up the majority of my Christmas decor the day after Christmas. This helps me set the tone for the last week of the year heading into the new year.

I usually use this time to reflect and plan a few things, so having the Christmas decor put away helps me to focus better. Check out my blog post on cleaning up after the holidays.

I would admit, that it makes everything look so bare, but there are simple ways to still make your home feel cozy during the winter months. Here are some of my personal tips on how you can refresh your home after the holidays.

Tip 1: Decluttering and reorganizing

After the holidays is a great time to declutter, organize and donate unwanted items. This will allow you to free up some space to add some new decor pieces for the winter season.

Tip 2: picking a color

Selecting a color for this season is a great idea. I love the neutral decor and in the last year have geared a bit more to darker tones. I’m adding accent pieces that reflect my color choices and repeat them throughout our home.

Tip 3: Use some greenery

You can add some greenery and winter stems such as cedar and pine to fill vases. Just because the Christmas decor is mostly put away, doesn’t mean there should be no trace of the current season.

Even a small tabletop tree can work on your space till you are ready for spring.

Tip 4: Making sure you use sheets and bedding that create warmth

Master bedroom

I usually change out our bedding to flannel sheets as February is our coldest month even in Texas. We are typically still spending the weekends watching movies and being able to snuggle up under the covers makes it all better

Tip 5: KEEP THROWS AND BLANKETS AVAILABLE TO GRAB

We have blankets easily ready to grab year-round, so I make sure these are washed regularly and ready.

If you decorate with pillows that have removable inserts, those should be washed too. It is also a great time to change out covers as well.

I hope you can use these 5 tips to help refresh your home!
