Do you want to give your home a new interior look? Are you striving to make it look new without spending a lot of money? Today I’m here to tell you the 8 best ways you can update your home without major renovations.

I love to update my home’s design every now and then. I always think about ways I can give my space a new look without spending so much money.

That’s why I am here to tell you that it is possible to update your home on a budget. Whether your style is modern, minimalistic, traditional, etc., you can give your space a fresh look with these 8 ways.

8 ways to update your home

1. Fresh coat of paint

If you feel that your home needs an updated look, you can start by repainting it. Paint is the number 1 way to refresh a room in your home.  It is also the most inexpensive way. Paint holds a lot of power as it can instantly change a rooms atmosphere.

For example, if you are going for a traditional style and want to create a classic style effect, then you can paint walls organic colors. These colors can include sky blue, peach, crimson, verdant green, etc. These colors are appealing, elegant, and sophisticated, which is what traditional interior design represents.

2. update light fixtures

Hanging light pendant fixtures

Lighting is one way that one can easily go over budget. However, there are different combinations of lighting that can make your purchase cost-effective.

There are many types of light fixtures that you can install if your current lighting is looking outdated. For example, statement chandeliers for the dining room, hanging pendants in the kitchen, ceiling fans in the bedroom, or vanity lights in the bathroom.

Bringing in more balanced colors into the space with the lighting can complement each other well. There are so many different options out there that are more updated and can fit whatever style that you have.

3. paint or upgrade a piece of furniture

Many of us had a piece of furniture that looked worn out and was just not connecting with our space. If you are dealing with this right now, then the furniture you have may not fit with the current color scheme or style you are going for.

Instead of getting rid of it and making an expensive purchase, you can either paint or stain it a new color. This can also include stripping it of its current and original state.

You can also add new hardware to that piece of furniture or your cabinets.

4. update window treatments

The most cost-effective way to do this is by your changing blinds or drapes. If you want to stick to your budget, adding new drapes and curtains are the way to go. I typically shop from the big box stores and Amazon. You can find a lot of deals on window treatments.

There are many different sizes and colors to choose from to add that extra pop to a space.  If you would like to go into a more detailed upgrade, you could purchase shutters.

5. Spray paint old accessories to give them new life

Spray painting is one of the most effective and easy ways to upgrade an accessory. This can include spray painting an old vase, lamp, or any other accessories.

What many people do not realize, is that we can shop within our homes before going out to buy new things.

6. Adding accent wall treatments

This is an inexpensive way to add changes to a space in your home. You can use wallpaper or basic trim to add some interest to a room. There are a lot of different kinds on the market. You can shop for inexpensive trim and wallpaper from home improvement stores, big box stores, and Etsy.

7. display artwork

Artwork can really bring a room together. It creates a nice focal point and provides a sense of texture for your space. Displaying a [eafl id=”3535″ name=”gallery wall” text=”gallery wall “]and old pieces of artwork with updated frames is a great way to upgrade a home.

There are inexpensive ways to update old frames without purchasing new ones, such as painting them or adding accessory pieces to them. The craft store, Michael’s, has great deals on Belmont frames, which will allow you to make a beautiful gallery wall.

For an artwork piece, you can also shop for digital prints from creators. Etsy is a great place to purchase inexpensive digital prints. You can get them printed at your local print shop, Walmart, or Target.

8. update your entryway
