Hi Everyone! I wanted to update you on my closet’s progress. I shared the closet plan in my previous blog post “Closet Plans.”
The closet was originally supposed to be installed by Christmas. However, we experienced some delays that moved it to February. I decided to do the demo myself to save some money. I started with taking out the old shelves, filled nail holes, patched up the walls, and then painted.
Take a look at the highlight reel of my process on Instagram: Closet Plans Reel

Light FIXTURES
The next step was to take down the fluorescent lighting and install a new fixture. This decision was made because I needed space for additional cabinets that go up to ceiling and I also wanted something different.
After weeks of searching, I ended up selecting this lightning.
Even though I have installed lighting in the past, I was pretty nervous to tackle it. There was something about removing the fluorescent fixture that made me unsure. It was easy to take down. However, installing the light was a bit more work, but we got it done and it’s beautiful.
Open Shelving
I also visited the container store to get a feel of what storage solutions they have for my open shelving. They have a ton of options.
I have also been collecting ideas on my store front, which you can find here under Closet Organization
Current progress
Installation is currently in progress and I’m pretty pleased so far. There are still some updates and a few changes to be made.
As previously mentioned in part 1, the closet is being done by an outside contractor. This is mainly because of timing and wanting to get it done sooner. It will take me alot more time to tackle. While I love projects, 2022 is all about balance and knowing when to ask for help.
Benefits of having an organized closet system
There are many benefits of having an organized closet system in your home. It provides many health benefits such as:
- Reducing stress
- Better clarity
- More productivity
Reduce Stress
We all tend to experience stress every now and then. To avoid adding onto it, starting your day with an organized closet will reduce the addition of more stress.
Better clarity
When your space is cluttered it plays a part in a cluttered mind. A room with clutter can upset your nerves and make it hard to make decisions. When your closet is organized, it can put you in a better mind frame.
More productivity
If you want to be more productive, it starts with organization. This lack of oragnization begins in your home. To improve productivity, organize your closet and other areas in your home.
I’m excited to see the finished results. I can’t wait to share the results with you all! Stay tuned for updates on the process.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
