Hi friends,
I thought it will be a great idea to give you a tour of what our first home looked like. This home has a special place in our hearts. This is where our journey as homeowners began about 13 years ago. I remember picking out all the options when we built. These floors hold the first footsteps of our babies and the walls could tell you a lot of stories of great times, laughter, fun, sleepless nights while holding precious cargo, wishing for just a few more minutes of shut eye. We loved our first home and all the fond memories and lasting friendships we made here.
Our decision to move was bitter sweet because we truly loved our old neighborhood but had simply outgrown the space. Luckily, the new homeowner is such a sweet lady and has become a friend. We are estatic that she took our first home and has poured her love into it.
Below are a few pictures of where it all began.
Living Room:
We loved how big this space was. We had a lot of dance parties here 🙂
Kitchen:
Our Kitchen was a huge open area. We contemplated putting an island in the middle but thought it served our family better at the time to leave it open. It served as a great area for the kids to ride their little toys through while I was working in the kitchen and a place to congregate when we hosted friends and family.
Master Bedroom:
When we picked this plan, we immediately fell in love with the Master Ensuite. It spanned half of the second floor and had a very large closet. We also loved that it had a nook, we had our exercise bike in this space. Our current Master bedroom is not as large but we do have a larger bathroom and comparable closet space.
Family/Game Room:
This space served us well. We would hang out here all the time and the kids had a desk in the corner to play on the computer and do their homework. Their was also a huge walk in closet that we used for toys and over flow for other items.
Kids Bedroom:
We had a shared boy and girl bedroom. I am glad we are able to have separate rooms in our new space for each of them. However it served it’s purpose well at the time.
Nursery:
This nursery was decorated with love and I hold fond memories of rocking the little one to sleep in this room.
Guest Bedroom:
We had a dedicated guest room here and wouldn’t have had it any other way. We frequently have family and friends stop by, it is very nice to have a space ready for them when they come into town.
Dining Room:
I remember when we picked out the pieces for this room almost 12 years ago and how my hubby and I will go back and forth. We still have the same pieces in our current home and I still love the choice we made. A change might be in the future but for now I love how it looks in the current place.
Office:
The next up is our office which you can see across from the dining room. This area was an open formal living space. It was never furnished and when we needed to move the office from the extra bedroom that we had. We decided to put up a wall and door to formally separate the area. It was one of the best decisions that we made and added some good value upon the sale of our home.
I am currently working on our new space and will be revealing each room as I go. Although my taste and style has changed over time, there are several pieces from our old home that we will be keeping. I love to be able to recycle and find new purpose for furniture. Thank you for coming along on the tour.
