Today, I’m sharing some inspo on how to make the perfect Valentine’s charcuterie board in time for the season. Charcuterie boards are a favorite of mine as you can serve a variety of good eats without necessarily going overboard.
2020 is already flying by pretty quickly, and I can’t believe it’s almost February. I love celebrating Valentine’s with something special. In the past, we’ve done cookie decorating parties while other years we’ve just had friends over for sweet treats. Last year, I hosted a Galantine party for my girl friends. While I’m not doing one this year, I’m hoping to host another in the future. It was so much fun!
I typically have some kind of charcuterie board when I host a gathering. I love seeing how this old French tradition of preparing and serving cured meats has been adapted into a lot of different variations.
Prepping your Board
Preparing a board is pretty simple. I tend to just grab what I have on hand and throw it together. It’s should be an enjoyable process as there are no specific instructions to follow. Just have fun with it!
I decided to make two different Valentine’s charcuterie boards to give you ideas on how you can make them either sweet or savory and sweet!
For the sweet board, I used candy and cookies. My first item on the board was the Twizzlers because they seemed to take up the most space. I worked outwards, making sure to alternate items.
I also did a smaller board with some pared down options. The finished product is exactly what I was going for. A little red, pink, and white. Can you say sugar overload? Perfect for a candy-themed celebration!
Next, I worked on the savory board. For this board, I used a mix of chocolate, nuts, cheese, meat, fruit, cookies, crackers, and some dipping sauces. I used the same method as the first and just worked outwards. This board is my favorite of the two. I’m a chocolate lover, and it also offers a variety of sweet and savory options. Perfect to pair with a glass of wine over good convo and laughter..
When making a charcuterie board, you can decide on a specific theme, such as my Valentine’s charcuterie board,or you can just go with a variety of finger foods. Either way it’s a great way to serve good food while entertaining.
Here are a few more pictures of my boards.
I hope this was helpful! Happy prepping!
