It’s week 1 of the One Room Challenge Spring 2021. I cant believe it’s already here and can’t wait to share all the details of my project with you. This Spring, I am focusing on our master bedroom. Since we moved in several years ago, I have spent time updating the other bedrooms in the home except the master bedroom. We decided it was finally time to give this space the upgrade it deserves.
The Space
This room design has been at least a year in the making and while I don’t have it all figured out, I will be sharing my overall design with you. Here is what it looks like currently.
We have the same furniture from our old home except the bed, which we switched out a few months ago. With things on back order, I ordered the bed to make sure it came in time and it arrived early. We are loving it and glad to incorporate all the other changes in the room as well.
Mood Board
Mood boards are integral to my design process and I always try to start out with one to ensure that things are flowing cohesively.
Most of my designs include bright and white neutrals but for this room we are going with darker colors. Bedrooms need to reflect and create a relaxing mood. I have been drawn to dark colors in the last year and my husband loves them too. I felt it was the perfect time to incorporate some of the darker elements into this space.
The Design
I also created some renderings of what the space will look like to really get a good feel of what I am working with. Renderings are such a great way to envision your ideas in a space. They have also been really helpful to share my vision with my husband.
We will be incorporating a feature wall and I will be testing paint colors soon but have narrowed it down to about 8.
Beams are a feature that I love because it grounds a space. I incorporated them in my last One Room Challenge Project and so excited to be featuring some in this space as well.
We will finally have a seating area that works for our needs. I am looking forward to this.
I plan to do several other DIYs for furniture needs and will detail them next week.
This is my first big project in a while, and I am excited and nervous at the same time.
A big thanks to One Room Challenge and Better homes and Garden for creating a platform to share and be inspired. I hope you join me weekly as I share my progress updates with you.
