Welcome to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge. Thanks for stopping by. I’m working on a tween room makeover for my daughter. If you would like to follow along, you can catch up on Week 1 here. I kept the projects on the simple end this week, as I am currently in my busiest season at work.
One Room Challenge || The Polka Dot Wall
As mentioned in my prior post, my plan was to get the gold polka dot appliqué on the wall. I wasn’t sure what pattern I was going to use on the walls. I like things with symmetry but wasn’t really opposed to just slapping dots all over the wall. Symmetry won in the end. The project took me about 1.5 hours—a welcome way to wind down after looking at numbers all day.
I started out by taking measurements of the length and width of the wall. The polka dots I used were 4 inches in diameter, as such I wanted to give enough space so it didn’t look cluttered or overwhelming. I used a leveler and yard stick to ensure the spacing was even across the length of the wall.
Here is a progress shot:
It took several tries to get the spacing right but once I figured it out, it was a breeze.
Here is the finished wall. I’m undecided on whether to put it on the ceiling as well. Time will tell…
One Room Challenge || Lighting
I also finalized the lighting option. While my mood board, has more of a chandelier style light, I (we) decided on a Sputnik lighting option, as it fits more with her style.
It came down to these two and the mixed metal is the final pick.
One Room Challenge || Other Accessories
I finalized the curtain rod selection and ordered her drapes this week. Here are my picks.
I love the finial on the end of this rod. It so chic and elegant without being overstated.
One Room Challenge || Week Three Plans
Week 3 plans involve making progress on my DIY projects. I’m excited to be collaborating with a company on one of my projects and will share more details soon. I’m also hoping to hang light fixtures and curtain rod if time allows.
Wanna help? Well, I am on the hunt for some perfect artwork to hang over her chest of drawers. Please leave me a comment with suggestions.
Thanks again! See you next week with another update.
Hi Torie! I love your design plan. It looks very sophisticated. I’m also redoing my tween daughter’s bedroom so it’s exciting to see that you’re doing the same. Best of luck completing the space 🙂
Hi Delia,
thank you so much for stopping by. I’ll be sure to follow along on your space too. How exciting :).
Love it! Do you link where you purchased the furniture? I’m looking for something similar for my daughter. We are Maturing into the big girl stage.
Hi Ashley,
