One Room Challenge Week 4 – Beam Project Update and More

May 28, 2020

Hey There! It’s Week 4 of the One Room Challenge. This week I will be bringing you up to date on my projects that I have been working on. Thank you for following along, you can also catch up on all the updates here.

We are currently at the halfway mark and can’t believe I still have a lot to do. One of the things I have come to love about this challenge is that it pushes me to new levels. I am thankful to the entire ORC team and Better Homes & Gardens for opportunity to share my talents along with other feature and guest participants in this challenge on the ORC Blog.

Project Updates:

Beam Project:

Last week, I talked about my progress on getting the first beams installed. I ended up taking a break from projects to spend some family time. During this break, I began to think about the spacing of the beams. After much thought and consulting with the hubby and a few friends, I figured out that 6 beams would make it look crowded and decided that 4 will provide the optimal spacing. Alas, the vent issue is not existent now 😊.

Here is a snapshot of where I left off last week.

And here is where we are now.

I am so happy at how it has turned out. Also thankful to my hubby and daughter for being such team players and staying up late into the night to ensure that I completed this part of the project by publishing time.  I hope you like it as much as I do.

Wall Trim Project:

I plan to start of this project in the next few days. Final supplies are coming in and I am excited to start on this phase.

Here are some inspo photos for what I would like to do in this space

The samples have arrived for the wallpaper. Here are the sample colors I shared last week. I am looking forward to deciding in the next week.

Accessories:

I’m still sourcing items for the dining room but also shopping around my home to complete this space on a budget.

I’ve crossed a few things off my list and look forward to tackling more in the next week

  • Source and pick up supplies for Beams Week 1
  • Prep and stain wood- Week 1-2
  • Install beams Week 3-4
  • Install light fixture Week 2
  • Fix Crown molding – Week 5
  • Order samples for wallpaper – Week 3
  • Order supplies for trim wall – Week 4
  • Install Trim – Start in Week 5
  • Install wallpaper – Start in Week 5
  • Paint trim – Start in Week 6-7

I also just launched my YouTube Channel and loaded my first video. Hope you check it out :).

Don’t forget to follow along on the ORC blog. Look forward to updating you soon and thank you for stopping by.
