Hi Friends,
With 2020 behind us, I thought it will be a great opportunity for me to assess where I was a year ago and talk about 2021 aspirations. I am not one to set resolutions for the New Year, however it is has always been important for me to write down my goals for the year and plan towards them.
I usually have a focus word for each year and with the word comes 4-5 goals that I work towards during the year. My focus word for 2020 was REDISCOVER. Rediscovery meant revisiting things that I enjoyed and making new memories while being intentional with my time and being present. Some of my goals around this were to spend more time making memories with my husband and kids, work on growing my blog, spend more time on self-care including sleep and relaxation and decluttering.

Stepping into 2020, there was a lot of optimism with the start of a new decade and I was ready to hit the ground running with my life, blog and travel etc. I had a good chunk of the first half of the year planned out with several milestone events for the family. I got to get away with my husband for a quick break and was able to spend time with my daughter on another trip to celebrate an achievement. Then early March came, and we all know what happened….
Life as we know it changed. Amid all of it, plans and timelines had to be readjusted. While 2020 didn’t end up as planned, I learned a lot of knew things about myself, my family, my desires and dreams. There was laughter, joy, grief, loss of life and relationships. I don’t always encourage immediately finding the silver lining in everything because it is crucial for us as humans to be able to express sadness and grief. It is important to mentally process these events in a healthy way. Looking back at my goals for 2020, while I did not cross everything off list, I reflect on the year with a renewed sense of gratitude and hope. 2020 took a lot but it was also a gift that I will cherish.
In my reflections, I started thinking about what I want for 2021. Time is a gift. As I get older, I am really in the season of simplifying and finding ways to continually be efficient with my time and opportunities given. While setting my goals for the year it became clear to me that they all centered around refining and spending and devoting more time to cultivate and do the things that I love. These include my family, my blog, my overall well-being and my career.
My keyword for 2021 is NURTURE. In my rediscovery last year, I spent time figuring out the things that were important to me and 2021 is the year to nurture those things. In nurturing, my hope is that I continue to refine my goals and desires to be the best version of me for the people and things that matter to me.
I am setting monthly goals and will be tracking my progress. In an upcoming post, I will share how I am staying on track with my vision and staying organized for the year.
Until then, thank you for stopping by…
