9 Family Friendly Valentines Day Ideas
Valentines Idea #1- Valentines Day Breakfast

Nothing screams enjoyment quite like breakfast in bed.
In our home, a valentine’s day breakfast is always on the list.
I love to lay out a spread for the family including a charcuterie board filled with yummy chocolate treats. I also make one of our family favorites- heart-shaped pancakes and waffles with strawberry and banana smoothies.
If you want to be extra fancy, why not try making some heart-shaped waffles. It is actually much easier than you may think. Here is an easy recipe that you can try.
Valentines Idea #2-Valentines Day Party For The Kids
Another one of our family traditions is a valentine’s day party for the kiddos.
In the past, we would have their friends come over for a hangout and some sweet treats. This year, we have decided to keep things small and simple with just family. We decorated the house and created a dessert table filled with Valentine-themed snacks and desserts.
Have some fun playing valentine themed games. If you are looking for some inspiration for some valentines day party games, you can grab some ideas.
Valentines Idea #3-Make Smores or Fondue
Can you think of anything more romantic than making your own chocolate-covered strawberries with hot melted fondue?
This is a great activity for couples and children alike. Seriously- I do not think there is a child alive who would not be thrilled with the idea of covering stuff with chocolate.
Here is an easy fondue recipe from So Festive that you can try out this valentine’s day.

Valentines Idea #4- Host A Galentine’s Day Party At Home
Valentine’s day is not solely for couples in a romantic relationship. It is also a great opportunity to show everyone around you just how much love you have for them. Yes- even your gal pals.
Galentine’s day has grown in popularity over the years.
While it used to be a way for single females to share in the valentines magic, there is no reason why non-singles cannot partake in this as well.
This is a great time to bring out the wine and the cheese boards and have a great conversation with your girlfriends over zoom about things that interest you all. Ideas such as book club, cooking class etc.
I hosted a Galentine’s day party 2 years ago and would love to do that again. My girlfriends and I regularly have scheduled calls to catch up, sometimes lasting 6 hours 😁😅.
Valentines Idea #5-Plan A Romantic Dinner By The Fireplace
Valentine’s day is the one day in the year where you can pretty much guarantee that all the restaurants will be fully booked. We typically go out to a restaurant as well.
However, this year we will be having a cozy dinner by the fireplace once the kids have gone to bed.
To prepare for your romantic dinner at home, simply light candles to set the scene, open a nice bottle of wine and turn on some music that you can enjoy while you eat.
Once you are done, you can even snuggle by the fireplace and enjoy a romantic movie from home.
Valentine’s Idea #6- Treat Yourself To A Home Spa Day
A relaxing spa day is really one of the best ways to treat both yourself and your loved ones.
You do not have to leave the house to enjoy the full relaxing benefits of a spa day. Treat yourself to a spa day at home.
You can make a basket filled with some of your favorite self-care goodies yourself and your significant other. You can even take turns to give each other massages, facials, or any other treatments that you will like.
We love messages so much in our household that we even invested in a portable massage table.
There are so many great options for massage tables that you can get online. You too can have a relaxing self-care session from the comfort of your own home.
Valentine’s Idea #7- Have An At-Home Dance Party
For a more active at home Valentine’s day date night, why not plan an at-home dance party. This is a great activity to try out with your partner, but also with the rest of your family. You can listen to music and dance freestyle or for bonus points, find online instructional dance videos that you can dance along to.
With the TikTok dance trends growing every day, I am sure we will soon start seeing lots of Valentine’s themed Tik Tok dances!
Valentine’s Idea #8- Have A Backyard Party
Turning your backyard into a campsite or outdoor entertainment area is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors with the ones you love while staying safe. I recently created a picnic table that can be used outdoors for a fun meal or hangout session outdoors. If you choose to invite people over, this is a great way to host your guests while maintaining safe and social distancing practices.
Valentine’s Idea #9- Read A Book Together
You can find a book to read with your significant order. The book does not have to be romantic to be enjoyable. As long as you are with each other and enjoying each other’s company, that is the most important thing.
Spending your Valentine’s day at home does not have to be boring. With the right amount of imagination and creativity, you can really make valentine’s day special for you and the entire family.
